As a Bourbon Retail Associate at our Trading Post Bourbon Outlet, you’ll combine bourbon knowledge, storytelling, and retail sales to create an elevated guest experience. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys engaging guests in conversations about Kentucky bourbon heritage, flavor profiles, and brand stories—while also confidently managing POS transactions and daily retail operations.

You’ll serve as both a brand ambassador and a retail professional, ensuring every guest leaves informed, satisfied, and excited about their purchase.

Key Responsibilities

Guest & Bourbon Experience

• Welcome guests with a warm, professional, and engaging approach
• Educate guests on bourbon brands, flavor profiles, and Kentucky bourbon culture
• Share product knowledge and stories to enhance the guest experience
• Assist guests with product selection based on preferences and gifting needs
• Arrange shipping of guest purchases upon request

Retail Sales & POS Operations

• Operate cash registers and POS systems accurately and efficiently
• Process transactions including cash, credit, receipts, refunds, and exchanges
• Verify pricing and scan items accurately
• Track transactions and maintain accurate balance sheets
• Report discrepancies promptly and follow established procedures

Store & Checkout Area Maintenance

• Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked checkout area
• Bag, box, or gift-wrap items as needed
• Ensure merchandise presentation aligns with brand standards

Guest Resolution & Support

• Address guest questions or concerns courteously and professionally
• Resolve issues efficiently while maintaining a positive guest experience

Experience & Qualifications

• Previous experience in retail, cashiering, or sales preferred
• Strong customer service skills with a guest-first mindset
• Ability to handle cash transactions accurately
• Comfortable learning and discussing bourbon products (training provided)

Skills

• Basic PC knowledge
• Familiarity with POS systems and electronic payment equipment
• Strong math and attention-to-detail skills
• Excellent communication and time-management abilities
• Sales-driven and customer satisfaction–oriented

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent

Availability

• Must be available to work evenings and weekends

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds
