Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Prepares high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production, thought embassy Hilton Standards.
  • Prepares for next day's food production.
  • Monitors portion control to minimize waste.
  • Ensures attractive presentation of food on the plate before serving with consistent use of plate garnishes
  • Knows and follows established facility wide health and safety procedures and rules and regulations
  • Serves meals or prepares for delivery by using correct portioning, meeting outlined standards, ensuring that food is at the correct temperature. Tastes all prepared food items.
  • Cleans kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high standards of cleanliness. Stores or discards excess food in accordance with safe food-handling procedures.
  • Keeps refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat. Ensures food and supply items are stored per standards.
  • Operates and maintains kitchen equipment as instructed.
  • Assists in production planning, record keeping and reporting as required.
  • Assists in the ordering and receiving of all food and supplies as required.
  • Reports needed maintenance, faulty equipment or accidents to the supervisor immediately.
  • Performs job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
  • All other duties as assigned

Competencies

  • Must have knowledge of quantity and quality cooking.
  • Must be knowledgeable of portion control and quality assurance.
  • Must have knowledge of modified diets.

Education & Experience

  • 1 year cooking experience


Work Environment

This job operates in a hotel kitchen. This role routinely uses kitchen equipment and appliances such as meat slicers, grills, stoves, ovens, mixers, refrigerators, freezers, dish machines, etc.


Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:
• Communicate and listen effectively
• Occasionally lift products and supplies, up to 40 pounds
• Have close vision and the ability to adjust focus
