Blue Horse Server

Job Description

Responsible for communicating with front and back of the house personnel to provide a dining experience which meets or exceeds guest expectations. Processes guest orders to ensure that all items are prepared properly and on a timely basis

Essential Job Functions

  1. Greet guests and present daily specials, menu changes and answer questions regarding food and beverage.
  2. Perform the Steps of Service according to IHG Standards.
  3. Serve three to four tables, as determined by management.
  4.  Responsible for stocking stations and completing pre and post job duties as outlined by the manager.
  5. Ability to up sell alcohol and food items.
  6. Able to use a POS computer system to ring in food and beverage orders
  7. Able to interact with guests in a friendly/fast manner.
  8. Process guests’ payment transactions as outlined in the cash and charge procedures.
  9. Maintain specific side-work and ensure the total cleanliness and smooth operation of the restaurant.
  10. Ability to clear and reset tables.
  11. Check identification of guests to ensure guests are of legal age to consume alcoholic beverages. Refuse to serve beverages in a polite manner to guests who are not of legal age.
  12. Observe guests during meal needs and respond to requests appropriately
  13. All guests must be treated in a manner to ensure their complete satisfaction. Always strive to exceed guests’ expectations.
  14. Report to work in a neat and clean uniform. Well-groomed hair and personal hygiene are essential.
  15. Assist team members as needed


  1. Knowledge of alcohol service
  2. Ability to navigate a POS system for food and beverage orders
  3. Attention to detail with work ensuring accuracy is met and exceed

Education & Experience

  1. Generally 2-5 years of experience as server in a full service restaurant.
  2. One must have Micros, touch screen experience.
  3. One must be a minimum of 20 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages to hotel guest per KY Liquor Law.

Work Environment

This job operates in a restaurant which at times can be a loud setting. This role maybe exposed to hazards, including, but not limited to cuts, slips, falls, tripping and burns. Hands must be frequently washed.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping and crouching. The position may require occasional lifting of products weighing up to 25 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time non-exempt position with expectation to work necessary business hours to ensure business needs are met during the operation of the Restaurant and Outlets.
