The Galt House Hotel is hiring Barbacks for Down One, Jockey Silks and Swizzle Restaurants. A Barback is an assistant to the Bartender. They ensure bartenders have the supplies they need to provide service to customers. A Barback has many responsibilities like stocking, restocking, and cleaning their work area.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

Safety and Environmental Performance

  • Ensuring that all applicable safety regulations are communicated and adhered to by personal example
  • Support full hotel compliance with safety rules to further our goal of zero (0) accidents and encouragement of reporting and correcting near misses
  • Adhere to SOPs and other work procedures as required to ensure guest satisfaction and consistent service is delivered to our patrons
  • Immediately report all injuries to Loss Prevention, as well as the manager on duty

Work Requirements

  • Restock Bar/ ensure there is always enough backup liquor
  • Run Food
  • Flip Tables
  • Change kegs when required
  • Pick up empty glasses and bottles from the tables and outside the bar
  • Wipe down tables and bar tops
  • Re-stock garnishes and mixes
  • Always ensure there is enough clean glassware
  • Re-stock ice when needed
  • Maintain clean rags in each bartender’s station
  • Assist Bartenders
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • One-year minimum experience busser, bar back, or server assistant
  • Familiarity with the bar setup and vernacular.
  • Ability to see bartender needs in advance
  • Good reading, writing, basic math, and verbal communication skills required
